BioBelize

Picture
Belize is a biodiversity hotspot and efforts are still needed to inventory and describe the country's biological diversity, monitor invasive species, identify biological consequences of anthropogenic change, and train native students and scientists in the latest techniques in biodiversity informatics.  Through the establishment of laboratories, education and outreach programs, and longterm scientific research, BioBelize supports training of the next-generation of Belizean scientists to better understand and use the country's biological resources.

New Zealand: Stormwater Photovoice Project

Picture
Ten and eleven year old students participated in a photovoice project investigating issues related to stormwater runoff in their local environments. Students were given cameras and asked to take pictures of stormwater issues that they observed. Pictures were shared in small groups and issues emerged about who has access to safe and clean water, the types and causes of pollution that runoff on the streets, and the various ways water is conserved in New Zealand. Photos were shared with the school community as well as the photovoice methodology.
