Performance based assessment involves checking for understanding of the students knowledge before moving on to a more final assessment. After giving the students independent practice to prove that they were able to retain the information and apply the new knowledge for critical thinking questions.

A way of assessing student understanding. Students are asked to perform a task based on their knowledge of the materials presented..

Limited experience

The teacher is given a deeper understanding of students' knowledge base.

Student often get off subject if the performance task is not structured properly.
