The past week of class we have been discussing what our current education system looks like and how it has been designed to maintain systems of oppression. Thinking about how Freire writes about transformation of structures and systems of oppression, how might you reimagine education for liberation, humanity, and transformation. More specifically, what might THIS class, called EARTH & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES look like from a problem-posing pedagogy (this is Freire's alternative to the banking concept of education) where the learning is rooted in the posing of problems of human beings in relation to the world.

Freire writes, "In problem-posing education people develop their power to perceive critically the way they exist in the world with which and in which they find themselves: they come to see the world not as a static reality, but as a reality in the process of transformation." (p. 83)

What would you like to do in this class this semester?
