What is science? In your opinion, what should this class (Earth & Environmental Science) look like?8/28/2015 For most of your time in schools you have been taught science. Take a moment to reflect on what you think science is. How have you been taught science in the past? What have you learned from science? Do you like science? Not like science? Why or why not? Are there certain people that you think are "good" at science? Now imagine that you get to design a science class called Earth and Environmental Science. What would YOU like to learn in that class? How would you like this class to be taught? Be as imaginative as possible.

In this class I would like to learn everything environmental about science. I personally like hands on things when it comes to science. I like to experiment on different things. To be outside and be productive when it comes down the earth really captures my interest. I would like for this class to be taught with interaction with both the students and the teachers. I feel as though because it is such a small class it would be intimate and actually pretty good for us to learn more and well. So far it seems like everyone is enjoying the class and what it actually has to offer. The teachers I believe are pretty awesome because you keep us involved and the conversations are not boring. As students we look to be intrigued and we like for our teachers to draw us in with excitement with what we learn and what we do. This class seems like it will be really fun and we will all actually enjoy and benefit from having it.

I feel that science is the research of a hypothesis in order to learn new discoveries or further knowledge of a subject. So far I have been satisfied with the mood set within this class. I enjoy how we are able to sit down and get to learn about one another in order to build a type of connection. I also like how this class is not only taught by textbook, as students we are learning by discussions and experience. I feel that this form of learning is better for students so that they are not forced what to think but are allowed to learn about what they feel is essential to the course. This makes me enjoy learning about science more since students are able to share ideas. I have learned biology, earth science, and chemistry but they have all been taught to me by the book, the thing I enjoy most about science is being able to do experiments and formulate a hypothesis. If I were able to create my own environmental science class I would like to do experiments, take trips with my students to go out to visit certain sites so they would be able to see things for themselves. My class would not be taught by a few lectures but more by experience.

Science to me is the whatever you make it. I've learned a lot from from science' from things like how our bodies work to how to treat the environment. I don't feel a particular way towards science; it depends on what aspect of science i guess. People i think are good at science are probably like Steven Hawking. I would probably like to learn about aquatic biology and ecosystems in this class. I would like this class to be taught in a very open manner in the sense that we get contribute to what we learn and how we learn it. And no homework.

Science in my opinion is the study of any and everything possible. For example Earth Science is the study of the earth and its atmosphere while Biology is the study of living organisms. In my opinion this Earth and Environmental Science class should be us studying the current events of anything happening on earth. For example Global Warming, what is it, why is it happening and what we can do to stop it? Or even oil spills, what are they and what can they do to the environment? While we study things like this in class, I also expect this class to go outdoors and study our environment hands on.

I believe that science is the study of the world around us and why certain things happen. Science also has to do with the idea of philosophy on the fact that you question everything. In science you find evidence to prove your hypothesis on being true or false. For the most part i have been taught science in school with a teacher and a textbook and performing experiments and projects to grasps the concept of what is being taught. I actually enjoy learning science when its about things I'm interested in. For example I wasn't really enjoying earth science because I'm not that into learning about rocks but i did enjoy learning about why earthquakes occur and things of that nature.

Science is learning about how the world that we live on works. Science helps us to learn more about the things that we don't know about. In the past science has been taught through a textbook and hands on work. From science I have learned how the world operates and why things happen the way they happen. In the beginning of high school I didn't really like science but as I got to learn more about how different things in this world work I started to find it interesting. I would like to learn more about how the human body operates and what certain chemicals does to our bodies.

I believe science is the study of things. There are different fields of science of course, so science is the furthering of information on a specific topic or field. Science is what helps us to understand how things work and help us understand how things came to be and how one thing interacts and affects another thing.

science is the foundation of life. Without science, we wouldn't be as advance as we are today. when the word science pops up, most people think of technology. however, science can focus on many different areas. Such as history, biology , astronomy and etc. science is the development from our past life. withing my school life i been in numerous science classes. such as living environment,l earth science and physic. within these classes i learned about human bodies and how it operates, the study of the earth, the laws of gravity and more. this is to show that science is not only based on one thing. it is main topic that is branched off to numerous sub disciplines.

In the past i have been taught science through textbooks and powerpoints. Sometimes science can be taught through hands on activities. I do believe that certain people can be "good" at science. I personally do not like science because i do not think that i am good at it. If i got to design a class called Earth and Environmental Science i would like to learn about ways that the Earth and Environment are affected by humans and ways humans can help. This class should be taught through group discussions and helping one another learn.

I believe that science is the study of the unknown. Science allows you to think openly and answer questions with logical thinking. In past years I've been taught science in multiple ways. Through my elementary years it was simply lab work, we built cars and did experiments. In middle school it was mostly getting information from books, and writing notes. We also became very familiar with the scientific method. High school science was a mixture of labs and note taking. I've gained basic knowledge from my science classes but to say I learned something would be false. Theres a saying if you cannot explain something you do not fully grasp the concept and there are almost no scientific concepts i can explain fully without an "Um" or a "something like that." I actually do not like science but I do like they concept of thinking logically. Mainly i do not like the subject because when I do not understand something I get very frustrated and it makes me feel insignificant in comparison with my peers. There probably are people who are good at science but they could also just be good at retaining information. but in the same sense people who have an interest in the subject will ultimately be better students then someone like me who doesn't really have an interest in it.

All my school life science has always been about taking notes and doing experiments. I don't feel that these experiments done have been fully effective. This is due to the fact that we as students are told step by step how to do the experiments. Instead we should be able to use prior knowledge to help us go about our experiment. I don't really enjoy science that much.i think this is due to the fact that i don't fully believe everything. I know people who are good at science
